North Star for Limb-Girdle Type Dystrophies (NSAD)
Clinician reported outcome. Designed to capture motor performance in LGMD and specifically developed for dysferlinopathy. 29-item scale that grades performance of various functional skills on a scale from 0 (unable), 1 (completes independently but with modifications), and 2 (completed without compensation). Total score 0 – 54 with a higher score denoting a higher level of function. It includes two timed tests. Timed rise from floor (RFF) and timed 10 metre walk / run test (10MWR).
LGMD and may be suitable for use in other NMD including BMD
Level of function:
Ambulatory and non-ambulatory.
Suitable for subjects of all levels of ability. In weaker individuals who are not walking, may want to also use the PUL. 2.0. In clinic – if the total score is not essential you can focus on functional items that an individual is struggling with.

Training advised to ensure accurate delivery of the scale. Manual and worksheets are available as well as comprehensive audio guided training slides.
